People-OnTheGo launches “Blackberry, Treo or Pocket PC: Virtual Test Drive”
San Francisco, CA – December 9, 2005. “In this economy of mass production, mass distribution, and little time for a meaningful personal consultation in the retail store, we need more in-depth education, and expert demonstrations,” said Deborah Bonner, President of Golden Rule Training, who has recently acquired a handheld device. Users seek help in determining selection criteria and getting first-hand experience with capabilities, as well as with the usability issues.
Patti Frey, sales and business development professional at Thomson, decided to take the “BlackBerry, Treo, or Pocket PC: Virtual Test-Drive” before heading to the retail stores. The workshop, which is offered as a Web self-paced session, lays out a methodology for formulating selection criteria and rating each of the devices based on the user’s specific needs.
“Getting into the details and seeing the devices in action was most effective for me” added Patti Frey after attending the workshop and ultimately deciding on the BlackBerry 7100. Joni Stone, from Tropical Vacations Travel, found the device comparison and demonstrations that used real-life business scenarios quite helpful, and chose the Treo 650. Glenn Millar, a partner at EWS Real Estate Investments, indicated that “the workshop was highly informative, well-organized, easy to understand and perfect for helping me – a non-techy – make a decision on which product to buy”.
As more users look for handheld devices, and as features, plans, and usability factors become more complex, users need a framework for their decision making process.
