AMCC Joins Wi-Fi Alliance


SUNNYVALE, Calif.--Dec. 20, 2005--Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) (NASDAQ:AMCC), a leading vendor of embedded processors and network processors used in wireless access points and wireless access switches, today announced that it has joined the Wi-Fi Alliance, a global non-profit organization devoted to promoting the growth of wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). As a member of the Wi-Fi Alliance, AMCC can directly participate in activities shaping the future of the wireless market as well as global industry events either sponsored or organized by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

The Wi-Fi Alliance, formerly WECA, is an organization of companies dedicated to ensuring interoperability of IEEE 802.11 products to the wireless community. The Alliance has established parameters for testing member products to ensure interoperability with other Wi-Fi CERTIFIED(TM) products.
