Twentieth Century Fox Teams Up With Airborne Entertainment to Bring “Family Guy” to Mobile

MONTREAL, Canada and LOS ANGELES, California–February 4th, 2004 – Stewie Griffin is ready to take over the world – one cell phone at a time. The youngest – and most diabolical – member of the Griffin household, along with the rest of his family, will soon appear in wireless content thanks to a groundbreaking deal between Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising and Airborne Entertainment. The agreement, announced today, will bring several features based on the critically acclaimed and popular series and its outrageous characters to mobile phones around the world. Airborne Entertainment is one of the world's leading mobile entertainment publishers.

Fans of “Family Guy” will be able to download an ever-expanding array of wallpapers, games, applications and animated ringers directly on their phones. Each “Family Guy”- inspired product promises to be as unique, twisted and totally unpredictable as the show itself.

“The fan support and public appetite for ‘Family Guy’ is insatiable. People can’t get enough of the outrageously hilarious world depicted in the series,” said Leighton Webb VP of Wireless Licensing for Twentieth Century Fox Television. “We can’t wait to translate this world into wireless content because we know it will be engaging, entertaining and at times, irreverent. All the qualities that a ‘Family Guy’ fan has come to expect from the show.”

“This is an A+ property. We have so many raving fans of ‘Family Guy’ on staff that people are literally fighting to work on this project,” said Airborne Entertainment President Andy Nulman. “The show’s cast of obtuse characters and its anything-goes sensibility make for endless wireless opportunities across multiple technologies.” Proclaimed as "gloriously twisted” by TV Guide, ‘Family Guy’ premiered with an audience of 22 million viewers following Fox's 1999 Super Bowl telecast. The show enjoyed strong critical and popular acclaim in the two seasons that followed, earning praise from Daily Variety for being "wildly eccentric" and "unimaginably creative!" “Family Guy's” considerable fan base demonstrated its strength in April 2003 with impressive support for the show's Volume One DVD release. The compilation sold over one million units, making it that year's top-selling TV show and the No. 4 television title ever, according to Video Store magazine. A second collection, of 22 episodes, has already sold over 520,000 copies. “Family Guy” will return with brand new episodes in May 2005 airing in primetime on the Fox network.

Airborne's suite of “Family Guy” products will be available in the spring in anticipation of the show's re-launch on Fox in May. Additional “Family Guy” products will be released throughout the year and will reflect the themes and events of specific episodes.
