ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 7 -- SpectraLink Corp. (Nasdaq: SLNK - News), a leader in enterprise wireless communications, has added enhanced features and capabilities to its NetLink Wireless Telephones. The enhancements include support for the latest Wi-Fi security standards, improved functionality and management for SpectraLink's exclusive push-to-talk feature, and new attributes to improve usability in a wide variety of enterprise applications and environments. These upgrades will be available to all existing NetLink e340 and i640 Wireless Telephone users.
The NetLink Wireless Telephones are the industry's first Wi-Fi handsets that support the Wi-Fi Alliance's security specifications WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and WPA2, which are based on the IEEE 802.11i standard. Both WPA and WPA2 security specifications are supported to ensure compatibility with new and existing enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure equipment. Security is a key component of SpectraLink's recently announced VIEW Certification Program designed to verify interoperability and performance between NetLink Wireless Telephones and Wi-Fi access points.
The NetLink Wireless Telephone upgrade also includes enhancements to the unique push-to-talk (PTT) feature exclusively available on SpectraLink's NetLink i640 Wireless Telephones. PTT enhancements include faster access to PTT channels and simplified administration and setup. Additional handset enhancements offer improved usability and administration on both the NetLink e340 and i640 Wireless Telephones.
