QUALCOMM Successfully Ports BREW(R) Applications to Intel GSM/GPRS Solution
CANNES, France, Feb. 15 -- QUALCOMM Incorporated
(Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the Company has
successfully tested and run applications based on QUALCOMM's BREW solution on
Intel's single-chip GSM/GPRS wireless processor featuring Intel's XScale
technology. The ease of the BREW integration and execution of applications,
conducted on an FL Telecom GSM/GPRS handset, validates the BREW solution's
ability to operate independent of specific air interfaces and on a wide range
of mobile device technologies. Using Intel's GSM/GPRS communications
technology and Intel XScale applications performance, the solution
demonstrates the utility of BREW for voice and data applications running on
mainstream mobile phones.
