Wizzard Software Chosen by The Plum Group to Supply AT&T Natural Voices Linux Telephony Version
PITTSBURGH Feb. 23, 2005 -- Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today that The Plum Group, Inc. has selected Wizzard's AT&T Natural Voices for Linux Server Edition Software Development Kit offering for use as a component of Plum's VoiceXML 2.x IVR Platform. Headquartered in New York with offices in Boston, Plum's VoiceXML interpreters, applications, and gateways serve as the core of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and Computer Telephony (CT) solutions for enterprises of all sizes.
"Text To Speech (TTS) is an essential part of modern day VoiceXML and IVR systems," said Matt Ervin, Managing Director of Plum. "AT&T Natural Voices has excellent price performance when compared to other TTS engines on the marketplace." Ervin notes that Natural Voices was chosen for "the high quality of the voices, the processor efficiency of the voices, and solid Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) support."
VoiceXML provides a high-level programming interface to speech and telephony resources for application developers, service providers and equipment manufacturers. The language follows all of the structural rules of Extensible Markup Language (XML), which is designed to improve the functionality of the World Wide Web with semantics that support the creation of interactive speech applications. VoiceXML is expected to expand access to the Internet through telephones and other devices using both speech and ordinary touch-tone user interfaces.
Plum's platform software provides full support for VoiceXML 2.0 applications. The Plum VoiceXML 2.x IVR platform supports a variety of enterprise applications, from standard touch-tone IVR to advanced speech-driven solutions. Core features include 24x7x365 reliability, ease of setup and administration, and ease of integration with existing IT infrastructure and data. Plum also provides support for telecom integration with a variety of Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems.
Conservatively priced to allow small and mid-sized companies to afford state-of-the-art IVR solutions, Plum's offerings are used by a wide variety of enterprise and call centers with high call volumes, as well as Value Added Resellers that support a similar enterprise customer base. Plum's customers include Blue Cross/Blue Shield, PNY Technologies, and the State of New York.
"We are excited to have The Plum Group as a customer and are pleased that they chose AT&T Natural Voices as a component in their IVR offerings," said Bruce Phifer, Wizzard General Manager of Business/Market Development. "Their philosophy of offering exceptional products at compelling prices matches our own, making this relationship a winning combination for Wizzard, for Plum and most importantly, their customers."
