WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
QUALCOMM Provides deliveryOne(TM) Suite of Products
SAN DIEGO, June 2 QUALCOMM Incorporated
(Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced its deliveryOne suite of
products, which includes the Content Delivery System, the BREW Delivery System
(BDS) and uiOne(TM) Delivery System. The Company also announced a cooperative
marketing agreement with ELATA, a global leader in mobile content delivery and
device management software solutions, to accelerate the Content Delivery
System for operators. To date, QUALCOMM's deliveryOne and ELATA's senses rich
media content delivery system are powering more than 70 commercial networks.
Operators leveraging one or more of the deliveryOne products can quickly
introduce new rich content services, such as BREW, streaming video, 3D gaming
and the uiOne user interface offering. The flexibility of deliveryOne makes
it content, device and infrastructure agnostic -- providing support for BREW,
Java(R), OMA and streaming content in addition to current services such as
standard ringtones, images and other applications -- for the range of operator
feature phones and smartphones for CDMA2000(R), WCDMA (UMTS(R)) and GSM
operators.
"With deliveryOne, QUALCOMM has expanded its offering and is providing
operators with the ability to choose from multiple products that enable them
to remain committed to their existing device portfolio and continue evolving
their line-up to include handsets with new capabilities and more powerful
service options, such as 3D gaming and uiOne based on the BREW platform," said
Gina Lombardi, senior vice president of marketing and product management for
QUALCOMM Internet Services. "QUALCOMM's co-marketing agreement with a leading
European company like ELATA provides operators, in Europe and around the
world, with the ability to control their existing data services and any new
value-added services, without interrupting or adding additional infrastructure
to their existing commercial system."
"Through our joint efforts with QUALCOMM, we are enabling operators to
deliver a greater volume and choice of mobile content that will take adoption
and user revenue to the next level," said Stephen Dunford, CEO, ELATA Ltd.
"We are now seeing the emergence of a mobile content boom with increasing
diversity of content, devices and market opportunities. The Content Delivery
System has been developed to meet the growing operational requirements of
operators and provide the core strategic component of their service delivery
platforms. Together with QUALCOMM, we're offering a solution that not only
consolidates an operator's existing content silos and systems, creating a
single management framework, it integrates and unifies other Operations
Support Systems/Business Support Systems components, such as billing and
customer care, to control and ensure the best possible customer experience."
The deliveryOne suite allows operators to choose the delivery system or
combination of solutions that best suits their needs, and includes the
following products:
Content Delivery System -- a solution that combines QUALCOMM's BREW
solution and ELATA's senses rich media content delivery system,
allowing operators to consolidate all content services for all device
platforms under a single service delivery system. The product
integrates easily with an operator's back-end billing, customer care
and other core network and business systems.
uiOne Delivery System -- a solution tailored to delivering themes and
personalized user experiences with dynamic content, designed for
rapid, low-cost integration into an operator's service offering.
BREW Delivery System -- a solution tailored to work in conjunction
with BREW devices to provide an end-to-end content service with added
business and security features for operators looking to solve
important issues such as device fragmentation and a consistent device
experience for end users.
QUALCOMM's 'Virtual Marketplace' continues to provide operators with the
ability to reduce operating costs by supplementing, or even fully sourcing
their portfolio of content through an online catalog and includes developer
settlement and reporting capabilities. QUALCOMM also provides a number of
value-added services including infrastructure hosting, catalog management and
professional services. The ELATA senses Adaptive Provisioning Framework
enables rapid implementation support for new device types as well as
standards-based and/or specialized content formats without having to take
services off-line. Operators using the Content Delivery System can choose to
take advantage of these additional features and services to further customize
a wireless content system that meets their distinct needs.
QUALCOMM's BREW solution is designed to meet the distinct and varied needs
of wireless operators, handset manufacturers, publishers, developers and end
users around the world. BREW products and services include: an open,
extensible client platform that supports robust system and application
software including personalized and branded user interfaces for mass market
devices; a J2EE(TM)-based, modular delivery system that enables the
distribution of content, applications and user interfaces to wireless devices
across all air interfaces; a dedicated professional services team that
supports the integration of customized implementations; and the wireless
industry's first global marketplace to support the monetization of
applications and services developed in all programming languages. The BREW
solution can make the wireless visions of innovative companies a reality.
ELATA, a global leader in mobile content delivery and device management
software systems, has invested over US$15 million in developing a
comprehensive range of modular, flexible solutions to meet the needs of mobile
operators and service providers. ELATA's suite of software products enable
mobile operators to manage content from third party providers to create a
dynamic content delivery and management system that sits at the core of an
operator's Service Delivery Platform (SDP). By addressing these mobile
content delivery and device management challenges ELATA enables operators to
drive revenues from a mobile content market that is predicted to be worth
US$126 billion by 2008. ELATA's software solutions support 26 networks around
