Intervoice Thinks Outside of the Voicemail Box with Media Messaging

DALLAS-- June 13, 2005-- New Capability of Intervoice Omvia(R) Media Exchange Transcends Generational Gap Associated with Voicemail and Helps Carriers Drive Subscriber Demand

Coming of age in a world where information is real-time, younger people tend to prefer sending short messages (SMS) and Instant Messages (IM) to each other rather than use traditional voicemail. In response, Intervoice, Inc. (Nasdaq:INTV), the world leader in converged voice and data solutions, today announced a new messaging capability to combine the advantages of voicemail and text messaging to a new generation of subscribers while helping carriers to drive greater demand. As another compelling, innovative capability of Omvia(R) Media Exchange, the new Media Messaging service from Intervoice allows subscribers to receive their voice messages almost immediately in the form of a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) message containing a voice file accompanied by a picture, avatar or graphical image. Subscribers are now empowered with real-time personalization options and carriers can reap the benefits of increased revenues associated with the new value-added service.

Voicemail Now to Transcend the Generational Chasm
According to leading research firm IDC, young mobile subscribers are key to the success of the services offered by mobile operators. This is due to the fact that young adults are open to new ideas more than the rest of the market segments. Like any mobile market segment, the youth sector is quite fragmented and users have different interests depending on both gender and age. Therefore, a key element of a mobile provider strategy is to be able to allow younger users to personalize the services they want.

More than just a messaging service, the new Media Messaging service from Intervoice also helps carriers to increase revenue with enhanced services that differentiate carrier service offerings and drive subscriber "stickiness." Subscribers can now provide a greeting to their callers just as in regular voicemail, but instead of digging into a mailbox, they'll receive an MMS message with a voice file along with a chosen image. The subscriber can use one of their own images or one that was downloaded from another application or the Internet. Subscribers can store and use multiple pictures and can link a particular image to the calling phone number, allowing different images to be associated with different callers.

"People will always pay a little more for something of value -- this service is more fun to use, more immediate and generally perceived as more 'cool' than voicemail," said Ron Nieman, Intervoice Senior Vice President and General Manager, Network Strategic Market Unit. "With the new Media Messaging offering, Intervoice aims to equip carriers with services to increase subscribers' comfort and familiarity with MMS as well as increase loyalty from customers who are more satisfied with their service."
