Ceon Corporation Joins the OSS
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 1 -- Ceon Corporation, a leading provider of fulfillment and service management software solutions for next generation broadband and IP services, today announced that it has joined the OSS through JavaT (OSS/J) Initiative, a working group of telecommunications industry leaders that provides standards-based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and design guidelines for the development of component-based OSS systems.
Ceon's Chief Architect, John Wilmes, is a member of the expert group that is responsible for the Order Management API. The final draft of this API is expected to be released by year end 2005. Ceon will collaborate with Ascom Deutschland GmbH, Covad Communications, IP Value GmbH, MetaSolv Software, Nokia Corporation, and Sun Microsystems on the specification of the Order Management API.
"Increased competition in all segments of the telecommunication service provider marketplace is requiring service providers to offer a richer and more dynamic set of products and services to their customer base," said Peter Burke, CEO of Ceon. "Service providers need the ability to more rapidly and easily deploy and configure the OSS solutions that are required to market, sell, deliver and support these next generation services.
Participation in the OSS/J community demonstrates our commitment to enabling the creation of flexible, quickly deployable, easily configurable, interchangeable and component-based order management, activation and fulfillment solutions."
OSS/J members include leading telecommunications service providers, technology companies and research institutions: 4DH Consulting , BEA, BT, Covad, Dialog Information Technology, Highdeal, Instituto de Telecomunicacoes, IP Value, Mahindra BT, MetaSolv Software, Motorola, Nakina Systems, NEC, Nokia, Nortel Networks, QinetiQ, Sonic Software, Sun Microsystems, WatchMark- Comnitel, and Wipro Technologies.
Ceon will collaborate with these and other industry leaders within the Initiative to define and validate the Order Management API. OSS/J interfaces and design guidelines help service providers and large enterprises avoid inflexible, difficult-to-maintain proprietary solutions.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome a leading supplier of broadband provisioning solutions to the OSS through Java Initiative," says Philippe Lalande, Sun Microsystems, the Initiative's program manager. "One reason Ceon has excelled at delivering superior solutions to tier-one service providers is because of the company's adoption and use of widely accepted open-access technologies. Ceon's participation in OSS/J further attests to the value and importance of best practices and open standards when building end-to-end solutions."
