BlueTree Wireless Data Launches its GPS Series of Wireless Modems
MONTREAL, March 3 - BlueTree Wireless Data Inc., a leading provider of commercial and industrial wireless modems for the rapidly growing worldwide M2M market, announced today the addition of the 5000 GPS Series to its expanding product line. The GPS Series includes the BlueTree 5200 CDMA and the BlueTree 5400 GPRS for use over the cellular CDMA/1xRTT (800/1900Mhz) and GSM/GPRS (850/1900Mhz) data networks respectively.
The BlueTree 5200 and BlueTree 5400 wireless modems have two unique capabilities. One feature allows the modem to send the GPS position of the modem over the wireless network to a host server and as well as to a mobile computer that is attached to the modem with off-the-shelf or custom mapping software. The second feature, providing standalone GPS capability, leverages the embedded intelligence and programming capabilities of the modem to collect, store and forward GPS position data, without the need to attach a computing device. The modems can also manage the reporting of GPS data when in and out of wireless coverage to ensure customers have accurate tracking data.
"We developed these two products with our customers' needs in mind. Our AVL and public safety customers asked us for an intelligent device with a standalone GPS capability. At the same time we recognized that upgrading from legacy CDPD networks can be costly so we looked at how we could protect their investment," said Karl Hantho, Chief Operating Officer of BlueTree Wireless Data. "The BlueTree 5200 and BlueTree 5400 have interface connectors that support legacy wireless data systems and in most cases, the power and antenna connectors match those in the field. Practically speaking, this results in reduced installation, deployment and accessory costs to the customer."
BlueTree's rugged GPS Series wireless modems are designed to provide simple and reliable communications and contain an embedded, energy efficient Trimble' Lassen(TM) SQ Module receiver that supports TAIP and NMEA 0183 message protocols. This feature makes the BlueTree 5200 and BlueTree 5400 ideal for deployment in AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location), ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) as well as public safety and field service applications. Used to track the geographic location of vehicles, assets are better managed and personal safety of personnel is increased.
For use in extreme conditions, the 5000 GPS Series modems are designed to meet the special operating requirements for mobile vehicle installations in harsh environments. These rugged modems are tested by an independent laboratory to meet the MIL-STD-810F military specifications and the SAE J1455 (Society of Automotive Engineers) specifications for vibration, temperature, shock and humidity - industry benchmarks for reliability, performance and durability.
BlueTree's BlueVue Management Software combines the power of graphical client software with the embedded intelligence inside the modem's firmware for simple installation and configuration. Using a local cable connection or a remote wireless data connection, the BlueTree 5200 and BlueTree 5400 modems can be easily monitored and managed.
