WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Global IP Sound Debuts VoiceEngine Mobile for Symbian at Spring 2005 VON Conference & Expo

SAN FRANCISCO, March 7 Global IP Sound (GIPS), a leading provider of embedded voice-processing solutions for the Voice over IP market, will be premiering its VoiceEngine Mobile for the Symbian platform at the Spring 2005 VON Conference & Expo. The company will also be demonstrating its previously released VoiceEngine Mobile for the Pocket PC platform. The tradeshow will be held from March 7 to 10 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, CA.

"Our goal in creating VoiceEngine Mobile is to empower application developers, service providers, and OEMs in their efforts to create IP-enabled mobile products and services that meet and exceed user expectations for anywhere, anytime communication," said Roar Hagen, Founder and CTO of Global IP Sound. "Enabling mobile device users with IP communications brings an entirely new dimension to smartphones and PDAs, and VoiceEngine Mobile lets vendors provide a level of voice quality far superior to current cellular telephony."

VoiceEngine Mobile for Symbian enables application developers, service providers, and OEMs create mobile products that are both easy to use and that provide substantially better voice quality than previous generation products. The solution is optimized for devices that run the Symbian operating system, such as smartphones or dual-mode cellular phones that typically operate under difficult channel conditions. VoiceEngine Mobile for Pocket PC, meanwhile, provides the same benefits for Windows powered personal digital assistants (PDAs).

VoiceEngine Mobile allows manufacturers of mobile, IP-enabled products to capture all of the benefits of GIPS VoiceEngine technology -- better than PTSN voice quality, accelerated product development and technology specifically designed for packet networks. Using the solution with its comprehensive and easy to use API, vendors can quickly develop products that give the end user greater mobility and that incorporate excellent voice quality without in-house expertise.

The comprehensive, packaged solution handles all of the necessary voice components for VoIP to achieve superior voice quality, even under adverse network conditions. VoiceEngine Mobile manages all of the most challenging problems encountered in mobile IP applications, including packet loss, delay and jitter.

The VoiceEngine family of products provides a common API for the Windows, Pocket PC, Linux, Mac OSX, and Symbian platforms to allow vendors to further streamline their development process and quickly integrate the technology into their existing applications.
