SAN MATEO, Calif. March 7, 2005
Mobile Game, Wallpapers, Ringtones and MMS Based on Twentieth Century Fox Film Deliver Robots' Fun, Family-Friendly Entertainment to the Small Screen
Twentieth Century Fox, one of the world's largest producers and distributors of motion pictures, and Sorrent, Inc., a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, today announced the launch of a mobile entertainment suite based on the much-anticipated film "Robots(TM)," a major new animated film created by the Academy Award-winning director who brought the Oscar-nominated "Ice Age" to the big screen, which will be released nationwide on March 11.
The mobile entertainment suite based on "Robots" captures the energy, excitement and humor of the film through a variety of mobile entertainment offerings including:
The mobile game, created by the award-winning studios at Sorrent, features "Robots" star, Rodney Copperbottom, hard at work to show his idol, Bigweld, his latest invention. Mobile gamers help him get the parts he needs to achieve his dream. Fans enter the adventure through a panoramic view of Robot City and uncover three mini-games, each with new characters and locations.
Dozens of wallpapers and screensavers featuring favorite characters from the movie.
Ringtones, which allow fans to personalize their phones with the theme music from the film.
MMS capabilities, which allow "Robots" fans to create, send, and receive text messages that include an image and audio.
"Our goal with Robots was to create a compelling mobile suite including an engaging game that is easy for kids and parents alike to pick up and play," said Robert Nashak, vice president of production, Sorrent. "We're thrilled to offer Robots' fans a way to take their favorite characters with them wherever they go."
The "Robots" entertainment suite is the first from an exclusive two-year worldwide partnership that Sorrent and Twentieth Century Fox announced in January. Through the agreement, Sorrent will develop and publish creative content for several upcoming Fox films, including "Kingdom of Heaven," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," and "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown."
