WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

AIRCHARGE(R) Teams up With VISA(R) U.S.A. to Tighten Security on Wireless Credit Card Transactions

AIRCHARGE( R ) has developed the first software for wireless payment applications that is in full compliance with VISA( R ) U.S.A.`s "Cardholder Information Security Program" ( CISP ). Ambiron, the respected data security and compliance validation firm, conducted the security audit. AIRCHARGE is the nation`s leading innovator in providing wireless payment processing solutions for credit card, debit card, and electronic check processing software for retail merchants.

AIRCHARGE( R ) J2ME( TM ) software was developed in accordance with VISA`s CISP "Payment Application Best Practices" ( PABP ). PABP establishes a newly formalized set of guidelines for developing secure payment applications that minimizes the potential for security breaches. Consequently, merchants and merchant service providers utilizing AIRCHARGE J2ME software versions 2.5 and 3.0 will meet VISA CISP software validation requirements when implemented in a CISP-compliant environment.

"Gaining compliance with Visa for Best Practices requirements demonstrates AIRCHARGE`s commitment to protecting the confidentiality and integrity of cardholder data" said Bob Wallace, AIRCHARGE President. "We were confident that our software is secure and by meeting these best practices guidelines we have ensured our software meets industry security requirements for merchants and merchant service providers that utilize AIRCHARGE J2ME software."

In a letter to AIRCHARGE/Wallace, Joe Majika, Visa`s Vice President, Fraud Control/CISP adds, "We see tremendous value in AIRCHARGE`s participation in this crucial safety program. We appreciate your continued support and commitment to safeguarding the payment industry".

About Visa CISP Requirements
For merchants, CISP validation must be performed on any systems or system components where cardholder data is processed, stored or transmitted, unless otherwise specified by the card association. Some of the validation requirements include maintaining a working firewall, updating security patches, protecting stored data, encrypting transmission of cardholder and sensitive data across public networks, using and updating anti-virus programs, assigning unique IDs to employees with computer access and tracking them, and changing vendor-supplied defaults for system passwords and security measures. The certification also dictates that merchants regularly test security systems and processes, maintain information security policies for employees and contractors, and restrict physical access to cardholder data. Utilizing AIRCHARGE J2ME software for their wireless payment processing needs will ensure that merchant and merchant service providers will meet Visa( R ) CISP requirements when implemented in a secure environment.
