Amber Alerts Now Available on Cell Phones Nationwide from Code Amber

MANDEVILLE, La., -- Code Amber (http://www.codeamber.org), the largest broadcaster of Amber Alerts nationwide has joined with Smart-Traveler Messenger (http://www.smarttraveler.com) to deliver state specific or nationwide notification of Amber Alerts to mobile devices. Starting today, anyone can sign up to receive Amber Alerts on those devices at http://www.codeamber.org. The service is free.

Bryant Harper, president and founder of Code Amber, says he has responded to the thousands of requests he has received to send SMS messages via mobile devices to the public. "We know most successful Amber Alerts are resolved when a citizen sees a vehicle involved in the abduction. If you're out and about, you're likely to have your cell phone, Pager or PDA with you."

Code Amber is the only Amber Alert distribution entity that delivers Amber Alert information directly to media from law enforcement in all 50 states and Canada. Code Amber's XML and RSS feeds have transmitted over 260 Amber Alerts to major broadcasters in two years with proven accuracy and reliability. CNN and FoxNews include links directly to Code Amber when reporting on Amber Alerts so that their viewers can see real time updates.

Harper says, "The Code Amber ticker has made its point -- people want to help find children, and that's our goal." The information is delivered to over 1.2 million subscribers on a daily basis, with the information appearing on nearly 225,000 websites and computer desktops, including television stations, radio stations, and state Amber Alert web sites. "The public has embraced our system and we will continue to answer their demands. We expect thousands to sign on these first few days."

"Having watched the growth of Code Amber as the premiere publisher of AMBER Alerts in North America via their XML feed to the media and to the Code Amber Tickers, we are confident they will succeed in Amber Alert publishing via this exciting new technology," comments Hamby Hutcheson, President of Smart-Traveler Solutions, Inc.

"We look forward to being their Message Service Provider (MSP) for both IP and SMS messaging needs, providing this service so anyone who wants the information literally has it at their fingertips. This is the largest step forward for the Amber Alert system we've seen in awhile," Hutcheson says.
