WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Extended Systems Licenses Suite of Wireless Software Development Kits to QUALCOMM

BOISE, Idaho--March 28, 2005--Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND), a leading provider of mobile software solutions, announced today that QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM) has licensed embedded wireless software development kits (SDKs) from the company. Extended Systems' Data Synchronization, Device Management and Infrared SDKs have been licensed under the agreement for use in select QUALCOMM Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) chipsets.

Extended Systems has more than nine years experience in inventing and supplying wireless protocol solutions and currently participates within the standards organizations for the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), Infrared Data Association (IrDA) and Bluetooth(R) Special Interest Group (SIG). The company's SDKs for short-range wireless protocol implementation -- utilized in hundreds of design wins -- are well known throughout the industry for their small code size and ease of portability.

Extended Systems' SDKs can be used to provide the following capabilities:

-- XTNDAccess Data Sync Client SDK enables the quick implementation of the OMA Data Sync (SyncML) client protocol, which allows files to be synchronized between a handset and a server.

-- XTNDAccess Device Management SDK provides OMA-based device management client protocols, enabling carriers to perform firmware patch upgrades by taking remote control of a device as part of an overall device management strategy.

-- XTNDAccess IrDA SDK is used to implement short-range wireless infrared communications capabilities.

"Extended Systems' wireless protocol technologies provide hardware manufacturers and chipset vendors such as QUALCOMM with a fully integrated solution that is easy to implement," said Charles Jepson, president and CEO for Extended Systems. "We are a single resource that can supply the numerous features in demand by wireless carriers and handset users in today's market."
