KPI Consulting Purchases MDP Services Unit
AUSTIN, Texas – May 2, 2005 – KPI Consulting, a technology consulting firm specializing in IT services and software development, announced its purchase of the Managed Developer Program (MDP) from Metrowerks Corporation.
“Metrowerks is proud of the MDP services business and the solid results it has delivered to its customers,” says Tim Tumilty, director for Metrowerks. “As our strategy evolves to focus more on our CodeWarrior™ line of development technologies for Freescale Semiconductor architectures, Metrowerks is pleased to place the MDP services business in the capable hands of KPI.”
The MDP unit provides web and marketing services enhancing collaboration among developers and partner web communities. MDP focuses on creating platform level software as well as establishing online avenues for the purchase and sale of development technologies in support of those platforms. The business serves the wireless industry, including a number of customers in Europe and the U.S.
For KPI, the acquisition allows expansion of its service offerings and a deepened commitment to the wireless developer business. KPI has partnered with Metrowerks for the past three years in bringing the MDP services to key customers such as Freescale Semiconductor, Nokia and others.

According to Tumilty, the decision to sell the MDP services unit is a result of Metrowerks’ increased emphasis on creating, selling and licensing world-class embedded development technologies for Freescale Semiconductor architectures.
