Aladdin Brings Award-Winning Anti-Virus Protection to Cell Phone Providers

Worldwide, more than 100 million smartphones were sold in 2004. With most running on Microsoft Windows Mobile, PalmOS or Sybian operating systems, these convenient devices are vulnerable to security threats such as viruses and other malicious code received through various means. Aladdin eSafe MCSG Multi-Layered Approach for Cellular Customers
Situated between the Internet and the cellular provider network, Aladdin eSafe MCSG inspects the content of MMS and WAP traffic as well as HTTP and SMTP content. eSafe's multi-layered approach to protection provides comprehensive security against viruses for handheld devices, as well as PC malicious code, email-borne spam and phishing:
Mobile Viruses -- eSafe uses several unique technologies to block zero-
hour malicious code, including mobile viruses that travel via MMS or
downloads from the Internet. In addition to signature based protection,
eSafe uses proactive technologies that perform sophisticated code
emulation to inspect executable code in real time to find abnormal
behavior. The eSafe Content Security Response Team (CSRT) uses a
patented OutbreakSentry(TM) system that monitors MMS and mobile
Internet traffic and can catch virus outbreaks in real time. When ever
a new threat is discovered, the eSafe CSRT will issue a security update
that is automatically updated by eSafe MCSG to block the newly
discovered virus or security hole that can be exploited by a virus.
Spam -- eSafe uses 20 different technologies to identify and block spam
with high accuracy. eSafe's Advanced Anti-spam blocks more than 96
percent of spam with nearly zero false-positives. This ensures that
inbound junk emails will not be transferred to costly MMS messages, not
annoy mobile phone users and not clog their phone memory. Outbound Spam
is blocked as well, ensuring spammers are not abusing the network or
using stolen devices to distribute spam. This also prevents the
cellular operator's network from being blacklisted.
Email Security -- eSafe delivers a high level of email security
utilizing unique "email reconstruction" technology to prevent
potentially dangerous, malformed, damaged and hacked email. eSafe takes
each email apart, inspects each section, and then reconstructs the
email according to all the relevant RFC standards. This ensures that
all emails arriving at the internal mail server will never circumvent
security standards.
Phishing -- It is extremely difficult for a novice user to distinguish
between legitimate or phishing Web sites. This is especially true when
using a limited smartphone Web browser. eSafe contains unique
technologies to thwart email phishing attacks and prevent mobile phone
users from clicking on email links that will take them to phishing Web
sites.
