Progio Turns a Mobile Digital Device Into a Personalized, Portable Fitness Coach
LOS ALTOS, Calif., Oct. 4 -- Companion Worlds Inc. today introduced Progio, software that enables fitness and performance enhancement programs to be loaded onto mobile digital devices, allowing consumers to tap into expert electronic coaching when and where it's convenient for them. Progio delivers an interactive workout that tells users what to do and how to do it, complete with a timer, still images and video that demonstrates how each exercise should be performed including all the nuances of body position and cadence. And much like MP3 song files, which users can play on any compatible player, Progio offers a multitude of programs from leading trainers that can be played on a wide range of mobile digital devices.
"Progio has been designed for fitness enthusiasts, athletes and people who are working hard after surgery or an injury to regain their fitness level," said Dirk Bartels, CEO and founder of Companion Worlds. "Progio offers a cost- effective way for them to get training and exercise know-how whenever and wherever they're working out. Because it's interactive, it helps them meet their training goals more effectively and efficiently, while also helping to prevent injuries that can be caused by performing exercises incorrectly. And having a variety of programs to use eliminates the boredom of repeating the same routine and keeps exercisers interested and motivated to continue working out."
Exercisers can download the free Progio ProXM Player software from the Progio Web site ( http://www.progio.com ) onto a multimedia-enabled mobile digital device, such as a Pocket PC, with Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 2003, Second Edition and 19MB of available hard-disk space. Programs that come standard with the player download include the Progio Welcome Video, which provides detailed instructions for using the Progio ProXM Player software, and the Lisa Engles Total Body Workout, a challenging, 16-exercise program that features still photographs displaying correct exercise positions, video clips demonstrating each exercise in more detail, and a short summary after the workout showing how long the session lasted, the number of exercises performed and the total number of sets completed.
"What makes Progio different from other products is that it delivers an interactive workout complete with video, it lets exercisers access their workouts anytime, anywhere, via a mobile digital device, and its open platform means a broad selection of programs can be played on a wide range of mobile digital devices today," said Bartels. "These features provide the user with a more personal and compelling experience, and make Progio available at the point of activity, so it is more valuable to users."
