Siemens Acceleration Sells its Stake in Software Developer Scaraboo to Best Gaming Technology
Siemens Acceleration in Communications today announces the successful sale of its portfolio company scaraboo GmbH, the developer of a highly sophisticated and scalable gambling platform. Acquirer is Best Gaming Technology AG (BGT), Europe’s number one technology and solutions provider for the gambling and games of skill industry. Scaraboo which has been a portfolio company of Siemens Accleration since July 2001 will remain an entity of its own within the BGT group and completes BGT’s product portfolio as full-service provider.
Scaraboo is the leading developer for interactive gambling software in Germany. The company’s highly scalable platform is a single solution that can be used from any place and with all common media such as Internet, mobile and fixed-line phones, interactive TV as well as automated betting terminals. The system which was developed in cooperation with international bookmakers as well as Siemens offers not only flexible frontends but also a complete backend that handles the betting-process and also takes care of payment and monitoring. The company which is headquartered in Bremen, Germany, counts renowned companies from different industries such as media houses, mobile network operators (MNOs) and gambling operators among its clients. The acquisition through BGT AG allows scaraboo to benefit from BGT’s acknowledged leading role in gambling, sportsbetting and games of skill and to continue its growth path.
Dr. Dietrich Ulmer, CEO of Siemens Acceleration in Communications said: “The more liberal public policies for the gambling industry and the growing demand from traditional media houses and other clients provides huge opportunities. Our investment into scaraboo four years ago as well as our continued marketing- and sales support for the young company anticipated this development. BGT and scaraboo benefit greatly from each other.”
“The trend in our industry shows the need to bundle different sales channels. This means, our clients want to reach their target groups via Internet, mobile phone, automated betting terminals and in the future also directly through the remote control of their TV. Scaraboo’s platform is ideally suited to handle all that. Together with our risk managing solutions, it becomes the most sophisticated platform for sportsbetting”, said Dr. Armin Sageder, CEO of BGT. “By acquiring scaraboo we complete our product portfolio and will further expand our position as the leading provider of turnkey solutions in the international gambling industry.”
The acquisition through BGT is warmly welcomed by the scaraboo-management and the 20 member strong developer team. The founders Arne Urban and Jan Ochotnicki said: “We remain committed to the city of Bremen and want to secure our competitive advantage in the field of media-convergent gambling platforms. This will allow us to continue our growth path under the umbrella of BGT. “
