IP Unity Enhances Mereon(TM) Application Server

Company continues IMS implementation with advanced products and support
IP Unity, a leader in carrier-grade media servers, application servers and real-time multimedia applications for IP and TDM networks, has delivered the second phase of its IMS roadmap by releasing its Mereon Application Server with a standard IMS Service Control (ISC) interface encompassing 3GPP standards for SIP signaling. The release also includes a comprehensive Software Development Kit (SDK) that enables both carriers and third party developers to rapidly develop and deploy innovative services without compromising the scalability and robustness required for true carrier-class solutions.
The enhanced Mereon Application Server and SDK will help IP Unity's carrier customers, partners and developers to build applications that combine multimedia messaging with personalized call management while also facilitating a transition to IMS based service delivery networks.
The capabilities of the Application Server now include: IMS compliance for integrating with other core components like Call Session Control Function (CSCF) through the ISC interface; a carrier-class service execution environment; and a host of multi-protocol signaling and media processing modules. The SDK abstracts these capabilities by providing service-independent building blocks and application primitives for developing rich-media services.
The Mereon Application Server Software Development Kit also includes access to IP Unity's professional service support for application development and intensive training modules to help partners quickly activate their own service design and development efforts. IP Unity's professional services for application development provide online tools, tutorials and sample code, along with knowledgeable support engineers who can accelerate development partners' time-to-market with customized applications that deliver service differentiation.
IP Unity's Professional Services team, launched earlier this year to support customization of Unified Messaging and Web Conferencing, will now provide customization for SMS, MMS, IM and Presence based services as well as support for third-party developers' customization requirements.

IP Unity's latest innovations will let carriers and developers create 'click-to' and 'push-to' applications for cable, wireless and fixed networks. These services can also be optimized for access over handhelds, PCs, set-top boxes, PDAs and other end-user devices, and will be scalable to the very high transaction throughput environment (i.e., hundreds of thousands of simultaneous calls) of Tier I carriers worldwide.
In a separate release today, IP Unity also announced the deployment of its Mereon Media Server and Mereon Unified Messaging application by KMC Telecom. The company will demonstrate its Mereon 6000 and Mereon 3000 platforms as well as its video mail and unified messaging applications at Fall VON 2005, in booth 333.
