WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Where can you find the Best Music on Campus?
Los Angeles, CA-April 13, 2006- For the past month, the most promising college bands and artists have been garnering votes in the mtvU "Best Music on Campus" competition (http://www.bestmusiconcampus.com), in the hopes of wining a record deal with Drive-Thru Records and a video premiere on mtvU and mtvU ?ber at mtvU.com.
As the race narrows to the top five bands, Boost Mobile and GoldPocket Wireless prepare to enable voting via SMS, beginning on April 17 and running through April 23, 2006. Once the voting window closes, to the lucky winner go the spoils, and one lucky college band or artist will get a chance to launch their career.
Boost Mobile chose GoldPocket Wireless to enable this campaign, using its EMConnect Campaign ManagerT software. The tool allows for ease-of-management of all types of mobile campaigns, and provides real-time feedback on many different kinds of mobile-metrics, including, in this case, voting results.
"This is a great opportunity to take a successful, word-of-mouth-driven campaign onto a truly viral platform. College music reaches beyond the computer and the TV and into the community," saidCraig Thole, Director of Value-Added Services, Boost Mobile, "and now that community can vote on the go. And GoldPocket Wireless was a natural fit as a partner with its past experience on these types of campaigns."
Once voting on the finalist round begins, users may logon to mtvU.com to hear music samples from the five finalists. When ready to vote, the Boost Mobile subscriber need only text his choice, 1 - 5, to the short code 2662. Users may vote as many times as they like (standard text messaging rates will apply) and the winner will be announced in early May. The winner's video will debut on mtvU and the network's all access broadband channel - mtvU ?ber at mtvU.com - in the fall.
"'Best Music on Campus' is a great match of content, audience, and technology, and we are extremely happy to be partnering with Boost Mobile to enable this campaign," said Stephen Leonard, President of GoldPocket Wireless. "We wish all the bands participating the best of luck - logon to mtvU.com, text your vote, and show your support for these college musicians today!"
