Open-Plug’s ELIPS Framework integrates Beep Science’s DRM Agent
ITU Telecom World, Hong Kong – December 4, 2006: Open-Plug, a leading supplier of mass market software platforms for the handset industry, and Beep Science AS, a leading provider of mobile Digital Rights Management (DRM) software, today announced the integration of Beep Science’s solution within Open-Plug’s ELIPS Platform.
By partnering with Beep Science, Open-Plug brings to its customers an easy access to a best-of-class OMA DRM solution, integrated within the ELIPS Framework. The way the Beep Science DRM Agent is integrated – through a generic set of ELIPS DRM programming interfaces available to any applications running on top of ELIPS - provides a swift and highly flexible way to bring DRM functionality to the applications requiring content protection. The combined solution will help device manufacturers to DRM enable their devices in a cost-effective way.

The DRM solution provided by Beep Science is designed according to the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) industry standard. The Beep Science DRM Agent supports all content types, major operating systems and chipsets, paving the way for a healthy digital content ecosystem across devices and platforms. The DRM Agent can be implemented on all types of connected devices for downloading and consuming DRM protected contents from online services. Beep Science’s DRM fully supports all copyright protection requirements in mass market feature phones, as well as interoperability requirements between devices and the operators’ OMA DRM enabled services.
The DRM solution provided by Beep Science is implemented in accordance with the versions 1.0 and 2.0 of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) industry standard and it meets the DRM requirements from leading mobile operators. The ELIPS Platform currently integrates the Beep Science OMA v1 DRM agent. The OMA v2 DRM Agent will shortly be available.
