Digital Chocolate’s Rollercoaster Rush Recognized by 2006 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Awards
SAN MATEO, Calif.--Digital Chocolate’s Rollercoaster Rush™ has been awarded the 2006 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Award for Innovative Mobile Game Development. Since its release in July 2006, Rollercoaster Rush has also been recognized by IGN, PocketGamer and Mobile Choice Magazine.
In conjunction with the CDMA Development Group (CDG) and Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), consumer awards were presented in six categories and honored excellence in the development and deployment of consumer applications. Digital Chocolate accepted the award last night at the awards ceremony in Hong Kong.
“We are pleased that Rollercoaster Rush has garnered such attention from two of our industry’s most respected organizations,” said Trip Hawkins, founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “To achieve such industry validation proves our company’s commitment to provide consumers with compelling, original games.”
Set across coaster tracks in Australia, France and the United States, Rollercoaster Rush challenges players to navigate through bumps and humps, sharp curves and loop-the-loops. Since the game’s debut in July, Rollercoaster Rush has scored well in reviews by major industry publications and has been named ‘Game of the Month’ by both IGN.com and Mobile Choice Magazine.
“Rollercoaster Rush showcases Digital Chocolate’s ability to deliver innovative games that appeal to a mass market mobile audience,” said Perry LaForge, executive director, CDG. “Games of this caliber promote the capabilities of today’s 3G networks and the availability of content on mobile phones. We congratulate Digital Chocolate on this achievement.”
The CDMA Development Group is a trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of CDMA2000 technologies. Nominations were accepted on the CDG website from the general public, and winners were chosen by CDG and MEF executives.
