WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Moderati Releases Top Indie Ringtones Chart

San Francisco-based Moderati has brought Lil Jon, Law and Order, and SpongeBob SquarePants ringtones together in one place; each appears on the company’s Top 20 Indie Ringtones Chart. As one of the United States’ leading providers of ringtones to all major and second-tier wireless carriers in the U.S., Moderati is in a unique position to inform the public on ringtone trends that are occurring beyond the major music label domain. The Top 20 Indie Ringtones Chart is based on twelve-month sales between October 1st 2005 and October 1st 2006.

Although many of the artists showcased in Moderati’s Top 20 Indie Ringtones Chart are well-known mainstream performers, all of the songs were produced at independent recording labels, proving just how viable this market can be. Each song originates from a record label outside of the four global giants.

Five of the top ten indie tones are from Spanish-language songs. The growing popularity of the reggaeton music genre, with artists such as Daddy Yankee and Pitbull have made an impact and opened the door for multi-lingual music success. Additionally, thirty percent (30%) of the top indie tones are film and television themes with the highest ranking going to the Halloween theme. Although the holiday of Halloween’s timeliness may lead some to think this is a short-term trend, this particular ringtone composed by John Carpenter has consistently appeared on Moderati’s overall Top 20 ringtone charts since 2004. Perhaps it is the perfect ringtone for the scariest people in your phonebook? Hip-hop continues its ringtone reign as TVT Records artists Lil Jon, The Ying Yang Twins, and Pitbull have enabled the label to account for 45% of the Top 20 indie tones.

Moderati proudly unveils its Top 20 Indie Ringtone Chart:
