WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Fitness Junkies to Keep in Touch via SMS

Fitness junkies can now fuel their habit via SMS on their mobile phones, enabling them to receive special offers, news, events, and appointment reminders from their local Serco-managed Leisure, Health and Fitness Clubs.

Mobile marketing agency Incentivated has been appointed by Serco, one of the leaders in the management of local authority-owned leisure facilities, to handle all future inward and outward bound SMS-based promotions at all its 100 nationwide clubs, with a potential 200,000 consumers involved. Incentivated’s win follows a successful test “Text and Win” campaign for Serco’s Towbridge Leisure Centre branch. Advertised by the local newspaper, the promotion enabled potential customers to text in for their chance to win a year’s free membership, with several hundred consumers having a go.

Darren Sprig at Serco, said: “The response was amazing, and Incentivated has proven that using SMS to communicate with our customers will ultimately generate greater revenues for the local authorities on whose behalf we manage leisure facilities.”

Jonathan Bass, Incentivated’s Managing Director, said: “Results in terms of customer acquisition and retention are superb, as we have proved. Mobile marketing has been shown to work time and time again in both the public and private sectors. Managers of public sector facilities have to use the latest tools to compete with privately-owned facilities whose marketing budgets can be huge. Mobile marketing is one of the most cost effective forms of media, and the initial entry costs are low as well.”
