Skyscape(R) Introduces Mobile Continuing Medical Education (CME) for Physicians at Point of Care
MARLBOROUGH, Mass., July 26 -- Skyscape(R), the worldwide
leading service for trusted medical information by specialty for mobile
devices, announces the introduction of Skyscape CME(TM), an innovative
program for earning Continuing Medical Education credits. Skyscape CME is
based on the Point of Care (POC) model of Continuing Medical Education
formalized by the American Medical Association (AMA).
With Skyscape CME, physicians can now earn credits seamlessly, while
performing their daily clinical duties, including patient care and
recording activities. By formalizing the certification and documentation of
the self- directed learning, Skyscape has streamlined the process of
continuing education, while simplifying the task of managing the board
licensing requirements.
Most state licensing boards and specialty organizations in the United
States require physicians to participate in at least 50 CME credits per
year in order to maintain their medical license. The AMA has standardized
educational requirements for physicians through its AMA Physician
Recognition Award Category 1 Credit(TM) program. The newly launched CME
service from Skyscape enables physicians to earn required credits while
continuing to use approved resources from Skyscape's growing portfolio of
over 300 medical resources in more than 30 unique specialties.
"Continuing Medical Education is yet another building block in
Skyscape's overall mobile and wireless strategy to fully support healthcare
practitioners with their complete decision support and compliance needs,"
states Sandeep Shah, President and CEO of Skyscape. "Skyscape's users
already rely on this trusted medical information based on their specialty,
and with the launch of this service, they will benefit by earning the
valuable credits that satisfy their annual requirements, based on AMA
standards."
The growing list of Skyscape CME resources that have been approved from
its evidence-based portfolio include:
Griffith's 5-Minute Clinical Consult
Harrison's Manual of Medicine
Harriet Lane Handbook
RxDrugs(TM): Drug Dosing Information
Outlines in Clinical Medicine
American College of Physician's PIER (Physicians' Information and
Education Resource)
Current Practice Guidelines in Primary Care
Medical Letter's Handbook of Adverse Drug Interactions
Bakerman's ABC's of Interpretive Laboratory Data
American Academy of Pediatrician's Red Book 2003
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
AJCC Cancer Staging Handbook & Calculator
"I'm thrilled to learn Skyscape has added CME certification to its
portfolio," states Dr. Michael Bungo, a Residency Program Director in
Texas. "I've been using Skyscape for several years now and have come to
depend on its resources as much as I depend on my stethoscope. Now I can
even earn my CME credits simply by doing my job. As always, Skyscape's
resources intuitively make my job easier, which is something I truly
appreciate."
