WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Everypoint and Sport1 Provide Instant Mobile Access to Germany’s Most Trusted Sports News
BOSTON, MA –– Everypoint, pioneer of a new class of mobile applications, and Sport1, Germany’s leading sports media company, today joined forces to bring mobile applications to German sports enthusiasts, with instant access to sports news, game schedules, scores, and commentary.
Starting with Germany’s football league (Bundesliga), these Java-based applications allow Sports1.de more than 20 million unique visitors per month to receive up-to-the-second information from Germany’s most comprehensive online sports source.
“With Everypoint we have a strong partner for mobile Java development,” said Uwe Zimdars, Head of Production and Development at Sport1 GmbH. “Everypoint has emerged as a leading innovator of mobile content. Partnering with them is a natural evolution in our strategy to continually find new ways to enable our viewers to access our broad array of news services,” Zimdars concluded.
This announcement comes on the heels of a major partnership agreement between Everypoint and Yahoo! for the FIFA World Cup.
According to analyst John Jackson, Director of Wireless/Mobile Technologies at Yankee Group, the global mobile subscriber base contains a wealth of untapped demand for intuitive, real-time access to high-value content. “Delivering such an experience has been a significant implementation challenge, and a primary barrier to wireless value-added service adoption. Subscribers will not tolerate cumbersome user interfaces,” he said. “Everypoint has leveraged the near-ubiquity of Java environments on current and future generations of handsets to substantially lower the barrier to rich content access.”
As Everypoint CMO Marc Theermann explained, “Sport1 provides an important entrée to the German sports market and enables us to bring our breakthrough mobile applications to millions of sports enthusiasts. This partnership represents another important step in our goal to mobilize content for the world’s leading content providers.”
