NAVTEQ Maps Power Multiple Winners at BREW 2006 Developer Awards
CHICAGO, June 7 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for location based solutions and vehicle navigation, congratulates LOC-AID(R) Technologies Inc. and NAVITIME JAPAN CO., Ltd., winners of the BREW 2006 Developer Awards. Hosted by QUALCOMM, the BREW 2006 Developer Awards is a global awards program that recognizes wireless publishers and developers who are creating best-in-class BREW(R) applications and services that are propelling wireless data to the next level. The winners were revealed at an awards ceremony during the BREW 2006 Conference. Both LOC-AID and NAVITIME JAPAN submitted LBS applications powered by NAVTEQ(R) map data.
LOC-AID Technologies Inc. was presented with the Best Location-Based Services Application Award for its LOC-AID(R) People application. LOC-AID People allows users to obtain the location of relatives and friends by dialing their cellular number. Users may retrieve location information either via cellular phone or online at http://www.loc-aid.net/people . This location data can be retrieved as text or as a graphical map (interface) containing the closest landmarks and hot spots. NAVTEQ has a long standing relationship with LOC-AID, a two-time category winner in NAVTEQ's annual Global LBS Challenge(TM).
The BREW 2006 Developer Awards recognized NAVITIME JAPAN CO., Ltd. for its EZ Naviwalk as a winner of the Best Up and Coming Application Award. EZ Naviwalk is a mobile navigation application for a mobile phone that routes users to a desired destination based on any mode of transportation (plane, train, car, pedestrian, etc.). The EZ Naviwalk calculates the optimal route, as well as approximate travel time based on method of transportation, pedestrian bridges, taxi cues and fares, and traffic information.
