Lights, camera, action - O2 teams with MIG to provide personalised made-for-mobile pop videos
22 June 2006: Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) has teamed with network operator, O2, to provide a range of interactive services around the forthcoming O2 Wireless Festival which is taking place simultaneously at Hyde Park, London (21 to 25 June) and Harewood House, Leeds (24 and 25 June).
Festival goers that are O2 customers are invited to attend the specially created VIP blueroom, where the MIG production team will film participants for one minute against a blue screen. The participant is then superimposed in a well known pop video from various music genres including Hip Hop, Dance, Indie and a World Cup anthem and once shot, it is sent directly to the user’s handset.
MIG is also providing or managing five further interactive services for this landmark event including:
VIP Barcoding – To get into the O2 VIP blueroom users text ‘blueroom’ to 60600 and receive a returned message that contains a ticket barcode. Users then show their barcode to staff at the blueroom VIP where it is scanned to gain entry.
Backstage Reporter - All O2 customers that have opted in are offered news and gossip throughout the day as SMS or MMS messages, live and direct from MIG’s backstage reporter.
O2 Active® Info Site – MIG is providing an O2 Active microsite to which it will be uploading travel news, schedules, what to do after the gig, and event videos, available to all O2 Active customers.
Bluetooth® Stations – Supporting O2’s music video promotion, MIG will be providing Bluetooth kiosks at both events where users can download music videos of their favourite artists.
Blogging and User Generated Content – Festival goers can interact with the event by sending their pictures directly to giant specially positioned screens where they will appear live, for all to see. Images are also sent to O2’s blogging site on O2 Active
Barry Houlihan, Managing Director of Mobile Interactive Group said: “The O2 Wireless Festival is the perfect event to show-case the broad range of services that can be achieved on mobile today. Technologies such as mobile video, Bluetooth, SMS, MMS, user generated content and barcoding all have a significant role to play with today’s mobile savvy consumers. As an operator, O2 are pioneering by bringing all these technologies together in one event. We’re delighted that MIG has got this gig!”
Paul Samuels, Head of Sponsorship at O2 UK commented: “The O2 Wireless Festivals are all about exploring and providing new and fun ways for O2 customers to interact with the events. Having worked with MIG on various projects in the past such as the tremendously successful Live8 ticket lottery, MIG was the obvious choice when selecting a mobile interactive partner. With MIG, we’ve again pushed the boundaries for the kinds of services that can be deployed at events such as this. “
