Redknee Drives Mobile Top-Up Double Digit Growth During World Cup

MUNICH, Germany and TORONTO – June 27, 2006 – Redknee Inc., a leading provider of innovative infrastructure software that monetises and personalises services and content for mobile users, today announced that since the June 9 start of the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals there has been an increase of 120 percent in the number of daily mobile prepaid top-ups through the Redknee Roaming Recharge Broker solution utilised in the Starmap Mobile Alliance. The solution enables travelers to conveniently top-up their prepaid account using vouchers from another country’s network operator as if they were in their home network.

“We are excited to continue to support our customers’ subscribers during global events like the World Cup finals and the Olympics, as well as other regionally-based pan-national events,” said Lucas Skoczkowski, CEO of Redknee. “Redknee believes that enabling seamless international service access, recharge and transfer of funds between affiliated operators in regions such as Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific is central to addressing subscriber satisfaction and usability.”

The increase in top-ups coincides with a recent report from analysts at Informa Telecoms and Media, who cited football fans traveling to Germany will spend an estimated €36.5 million on mobile calls, text and video messages during the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals.

Countries with qualifying World Cup teams and also with operator participation in the Starmap Mobile Alliance include Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. Of these countries, Redknee’s statistics indicate that a substantial majority of the increased daily top-ups are attributed to travelers from Britain. Since the beginning of the World Cup on June 9, British top-ups have tripled with an increase of 200 percent.
