Cingular and Qpass Announce Long-Term Strategic Partnership to Expand Premium Content
March 7, 2006 – Qpass today announced an extension of its partnership with Cingular Wireless, the largest wireless carrier in the US, to continue to provide the technology platform and services that support and efficiently manage the premium content and services offered by Cingular to its customers.
The new multi-year agreement expands and broadens the already existing relationship between Qpass and Cingular, which has spanned more than five years. Today, Qpass provides Cingular with its mobile commerce platform, supporting the carrier’s merchant management, offer management, promotions management, payments, customer care, financial reporting and settlement for Cingular and its hundreds of merchants selling premium content and services. By centralising the mobile commerce function with Qpass, Cingular subscribers are able to purchase ringtones, graphics, video programming, games, and applications via multiple Cingular branded storefronts and services such as:
MEdia Net –Cingular’s wireless Internet product that gives customers the quickest access to their favorite online content in a range of categories such as news and entertainment, sports, finance, weather, movies, photo services, and shopping.
MEdia Mall – Cingular’s marketplace for ringtones, graphics, and games from hundreds of content providers.
MEdia Net Live Ticker – Cingular’s new service that delivers pre-selected content, such as breaking news, weather and sports information, directly to consumers’ phone displays without the need to touch a single button or incur any charge for accessing the initial information.
RealArcade – A subscription-based service that allows subscribers to play a wide variety of games for a monthly subscription fee.
Additionally, Cingular also works with Qpass to power its rapidly-growing third party off-portal business, providing merchant management, billing, subscription management, revenue assurance, real-time reporting, and a consistent customer care experience to third party content sites and aggregators that sell premium content directly to Cingular subscribers. Qpass’ solution acts as a point of control in Cingular’s rapidly expanding third party off-portal business, helping enforce business policies and service standards across all subscriber touch points.
“Qpass has been a partner of Cingular’s for many years, and we are very pleased to be extending our strategic relationship them,” said Jim Ryan, vice president of consumer data services, Cingular Wireless. “Cingular is continually looking for opportunities to bring innovative content and applications to the marketplace, and Qpass is helping us achieve that goal.”
"Qpass is very pleased to be extending its partnership with Cingular so that we can help them to continue to achieve their goals of efficiently growing their premium services revenue and launching new services, which ensures Cingular’s industry leadership in the mobile data space,” said Chase Franklin, CEO of Qpass. “Because Qpass is uniquely able to address all aspects of the premium content and services business, Cingular can continue to rapidly innovate and grow their data services business in an efficient and scalable manner for years to come.”
