Wireless Technology Supports AMBER Alert Highway Network to Assist in Search for Abducted Children

WASHINGTON, -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leader in providing business-to-business wireless platforms, applications and services, today announced an initiative to help increase the likelihood of recovering abducted children. The AMBER Alert Highway Network, through a partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children(R) (NCMEC), redistributes AMBER Alerts directly to truck drivers, significantly broadening the audience of those who can watch for abducted children. The new initiative has the support of the American Trucking Associations, and the potential to add thousands of trucks and drivers to the AMBER Alert Highway Network.

"QUALCOMM is proud to use our satellite-based mobile communications and location-based services to work with NCMEC, trucking companies and their drivers across the country to help locate abducted children. We encourage fleets to learn more and join the AMBER Alert Highway Network so that even more of America's professional truck drivers can participate," said Joan Waltman, president of QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions. "We're honored to help serve the community with our partners. There's no more noble cause than the search for and recovery of an abducted child."

Initial members of the AMBER Alert Highway Network include Wal-Mart; Tyson Foods, Inc.; Omaha, Nebraska-based Cornhusker Motor Lines, Inc.; bulk liquid commodities carrier Distribution Technologies, Inc.; regional transportation company G&P Trucking; Chattanooga, Tennessee-based U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc.; national transportation and brokerage company Pottles Transportation, Inc.; and tanker specialists Grammer Industries Inc. Combined, these companies dispatch more than 20,000 drivers across the country every day.

Secondary methods of distribution such as QUALCOMM's initiative, which delivers Alerts through the OmniTRACS(R) mobile communications solution, assist in achieving the overall goal of the AMBER Alert program -- to notify as many people as possible about a recent child abduction, and provide information that can help in the search for the abducted child, suspected abductor, and/or suspected vehicle and in the safer return of the child. For drivers to receive Alerts through on-board communications solutions, transportation carriers must be enrolled in the AMBER Alert Highway Network. For more information about the AMBER Alert Highway Network and instructions to enroll, please visit www.qualcomm.com/qwbs or call 1-800-348-7227.

The AMBER Alert Highway Network is similar to the Wal-Mart RoadWatch program, a collaboration between QUALCOMM, NCMEC and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., which ensures Wal-Mart drivers receive geographically relevant missing-child bulletins.

"Truck drivers have already proven to be a valuable asset in monitoring the nation's roads for missing children. QUALCOMM's mobile communications solution helps increase the reach, and therefore the effectiveness, of AMBER Alerts," said Ernie Allen, president and CEO, NCMEC. "Just one driver knowing what to look for on the road could assist law enforcement in the safer recovery of an abducted child."

Each of the 50 United States has a statewide AMBER Alert program, as do the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Since the program's inception in 1997, AMBER Alerts have been credited with the successful recovery of more than 240 children.

NCMEC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. NCMEC's congressionally mandated CyberTipline, a reporting mechanism for child sexual exploitation, has handled more than 365,500 leads. Since its establishment in 1984, NCMEC has assisted law enforcement with more than 117,100 missing child cases, resulting in the recovery of more than 99,500 children. For more information about NCMEC, call its toll-free, 24- hour hotline at 1-800-THE-LOST or visit its web site at www.missingkids.com.

QUALCOMM has helped the transportation industry become more efficient since 1988 when the introduction of the OmniTRACS mobile communications solution provided transportation companies with an innovative and effective way of managing logistics. Today, QUALCOMM is the industry's global leader in providing high-value wireless data solutions, applications and services. QUALCOMM has shipped more than 678,000 mobile systems to businesses in 39 countries on four continents. Processing more than 12.5 million data transactions daily, QUALCOMM's Network Operations Centers are staffed by trained professionals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

QUALCOMM Incorporated (www.qualcomm.com) is a leader in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services based on CDMA and other advanced technologies. Headquartered in San Diego, Calif., QUALCOMM is included in the S&P 500 Index and is a 2005 FORTUNE 500(R) company traded on The Nasdaq Stock Market(R) under the ticker symbol QCOM.
