WebMessenger Announces New Releases of Its Mobile Instant Messaging Applications for Palm

LOS ANGELES-- May 9, 2006-- New WebMessenger Mobile IM Clients Provide Secure, Wireless Connectivity across All Public and Private Networks for Enterprise and Business Professionals

WebMessenger, provider of mobile instant-messaging products for enterprises and consumers, today announced the latest releases of its Mobile Instant Messenger (IM) clients for Palm and Pocket PC (PPC) devices. Both IM clients are available as standalone wireless applications for consumers and business professionals as well as for enterprises via the WebMessenger Mobile Platform.

The application allows business professionals to securely correspond via IM or chat over all major public networks, including AOL, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN and Yahoo.

WebMessenger's Instant Messaging clients provide multi-network access, enabling users to simultaneously chat with buddies on different networks. Both clients run concurrently with email applications and while the user is on the phone. In addition, users are able to send and receive extended presence awareness information (online, busy, away and not available) as well as recognize the device of origin (desktop or mobile).

Mobile Instant Messenger for Palm and PPC key features include:

  • 3DES Encryption -- ability to encrypt communication for added security and regulatory/enterprise compliance
  • IM Networks Wizard -- launches automatically and helps set up proxy accounts for all supported networks
  • Enhanced IM Networks Screen -- completely re-designed IM networks screen gives users a one screen overview of their interoperability accounts and an easy-to-use interface to manage their accounts and contacts
  • Buddy List Logo Icons -- uses IM network logos for buddy icons, making it much quicker and easier to determine status and initiate chats with buddies from various IM networks
  • 5 Way Navigation Bar Utilization -- users can navigate through buddy lists, read messages, collapse/expand groups and much more simply by using the 5 way navigation control found on both Palm and PPC devices, eliminating the need for a stylus

WebMessenger's enterprise version of Mobile Instant Messenger for Palm and PPC devices include all of the above features and offers added interoperability with IBM Lotus Sametime, Jabber XCP, Microsoft Exchange IM, Microsoft LCS and Reuters Messaging.
