Outsmart Signs Global Reseller Agreement with Major Communications Vendor to Deliver IMS Solutions
Tel Aviv, Israel - May 16, 2006 - Outsmart Ltd., the leading provider of network convergence and IMS based solutions, has signed a global reseller agreement with leading telecommunications equipment provider Siemens AG. Under the agreement, Siemens will incorporate Outsmart’s Mobility Management Application Server (MM-AS) solution into its IMS/FMC solution. Furthermore, the agreement signals the beginning of a relationship in which Siemens will incorporate additional Outsmart IMS applications into its IMS solutions.
As IMS continues to penetrate the telecommunication industry, the seamless handoff and voice call continuity solution is critical for users moving between cellular and Wi-Fi coverage areas since it automatically switches an existing call from one network to the other when the wireless signal level drops in one domain. By doing such, the handoff guarantees continuous coverage without dropping the call and also provides coverage from the best network connectivity available. Additionally, the seamless handover allows users to gain IMS access in areas that only provide GSM/CDMA coverage.
The MM-AS supports roaming and seamless handover between IMS Domain and CS (Circuit Switched) Domain for Dual Mode handset. The solution is based on the standards bodies 3GPP and 3GPP2 for IMS-controlled call continuity. Accordingly, all calls between Dual Mode handsets must pass through the MM-AS for an eventual handover processing, no matter if a call started in the GSM or the IMS network.
“As IMS continues to evolve, fixed mobile convergence leads the charge into the next generation of connectivity,” says Andreas Muller Schubert, President of Siemens Communications Fixed Network Solutions. “By integrating Outsmart’s Mobility Management Application Server into our IMS solution, service providers are now enabled to present to their customers services that seamlessly operate in converged networks, and that allow users to stay connected, whatever their location may be.”
“Outsmart is on the cutting-edge of the convergence arena, consistently breaking boundaries, and providing solutions that are tailored to the IMS environment and services to the current market,” says Menahem Tirosh, Chief Executive Officer of Outsmart. “We are excited that a leading company like Siemens has acknowledged our innovative high quality solutions and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future on a broad range of exciting projects.
