Trend Micro Advances Security for Smartphones and other Data-Centric Devices
CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 13 -- Trend Micro,
Incorporated (TSE: 4704, Nasdaq: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and
Internet content security software and services, today announced the
addition of new security features within the award-winning Trend Micro(TM)
Mobile Security. Trend Micro Mobile Security 3.0 adds protection against
hackers and intrusions while improving on the previously available mobile
malicious code protection for mobile malware and SMS spam.
IDC(1) expects converged mobile device shipments to reach nearly 100
million units in 2006 and the number of threats to these sorts of devices
is increasing. These threats to date have been proof-of-concept attacks
that are limited by weak propagation methods capabilities and a modest
target device population. Given the growth in smartphone penetration and
the increasing availability of WiFi networks coupled with faster download
capabilities, the possibility of a more serious threat is increasing.

Smartphone) is available immediately with pricing beginning at $34.95 per
