Sun Announces CommunityOne Event


Santa Clara, Calif., April 9, 2007 – Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW), today announced that registration is now open for its new CommunityOne event that will be held May 7th at Moscone Center in San Francisco - http://developers.sun.com/events/communityone/. Sun's annual technology event, the JavaOne(SM) conference will be held May 8 - 11, also at Moscone Center.

CommunityOne is a free, one-day event designed for open source and web developers to gain detailed technical information on free and open source projects including, NetBeans(TM) Software, OpenSolaris (TM), GlassFish(TM), OpenJDK and the Mobile & Embedded Community, as well as interact with other participants to exchange ideas and best practices. In addition, CommunityOne will host talks on topics relating to Web 2.0 , James Governor and Stephen O'Grady from the analyst firm RedMonk will moderate an unconference, Ian Murdock will host a session on open operating systems and Sun will host its second Startup Camp event.

The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a general session and panel discussion. Then attendees can spend the rest of the day attending expert-led technology break-out sessions across the different conference tracks. CommunityOne will close with an evening networking reception from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

This year, the NetBeans software team will be hosting the fourth annual NetBeans Software Day as part of the CommunityOne event. NetBeans Software Day offers developers a chance to learn from the experts, find out firsthand what's new and what's coming in the NetBeans Integrated Development Environment and network with other members of the community, including the Java Posse and Sun Vice President and Fellow, James Gosling. As a special bonus, the first 400 attendees of NetBeans Software Day will receive a complimentary copy of “Rich Client Programming: Plugging into the NetBeans Platform” by Tim Boudreau, Jaroslav Tulach, and Geertjan Wielenga.
