WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Platforms Wireless and Lindstrand Technologies Expand Strategic Partnership Agreement

LOS ANGELES-- Platforms Wireless International Corporation, (Pink Sheets:PLFM) (www.plfm.net), the developer of the innovative Airborne Relay Communications “ARC” System Core Technology for wireless voice and data communications, announced today that Lindstrand Technologies Ltd., (“LTL”), one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE), lighter-than-air, (LTA), airborne platforms, will supply the system-delivery aerostats for the Platforms RECOM-911™ Rapid Response Emergency Communications Systems.

Under the strategic partnership alliance, Lindstrand Technologies, who has worked with Platforms Wireless for the past seven years, and is an active participant on the Platforms presentations and proposals to the U.S. Department of Defense, has agreed to supply the aerostats for use as high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE), lighter-than-air (LTA), airborne platforms for the delivery of Platforms commercial and military airborne wireless communications system payloads. Lindstrand has also agreed to represent Platforms’ airborne wireless communications systems around the world, and will market Platforms Communications Systems as integrated offerings with its aerostats and balloons. Lindstrand will supply (i) permanent site aerostat systems for fixed position communications and surveillance applications; (ii) self-contained, transportable, ISO-containerized aerostats for rapid deployment of the Platforms’ RECOM-911™ Systems to emergencies and natural or man-made disaster incidents; and (iii) self-contained, transportable mini-aerostats for specialized applications of Platforms airborne wireless communications and surveillance systems by the military, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, offices of emergency services, and state and local governments.

At the Platforms System demonstration in San Diego, California, on September 30, 2006, Dr. Per Lindstrand, founder and President of Lindstrand Technologies, and one of the world’s leading authorities in aerostat technology, supported the Platforms RECOM-911™ System demonstration to the United States Department of Defense, presenting the extensive HALE, LTA aircraft capabilities of his company and the significant recent advancements in aerostat technology. Dr. Lindstrand elaborated on the capabilities and advantages of his advanced aerostats, and his commitment to the Platforms airborne wireless communications technology. With the advent of new composite aerostat skin materials and Helium compartment advances, LTL’s aerostats can remain aloft for months at a time, minimizing docking requirements for Helium refills and maintenance. These advances also make possible an “envelope” packing and repacking cycle capability in excess of 100 times, as compared to industry-standard repacking life cycles of ten to twelve cycles.

Dr. Lindstrand also discussed the significant advances in aerostat aerodynamic design, mooring station, and restraint tether system technologies. These advances now allow the aerostat to remain aloft in winds of up to 75 knots (Hurricane Category-1), and remain safely secured to its mooring station. The custom tether restraint system also provides restraint fibers made out of Spectra and Kevlar fibers, with conduits for fiber optics, power, and communications to link the airborne payload to the ground radio base stations, network switching equipment, computers, and the aerostat operations and health monitoring systems.

William C. Martin, President and CEO of Platforms Wireless International, stated: “We thank Dr. Lindstrand for his invaluable contributions and support over the past seven years, and for his support and participation in our RECOM-911™ System demonstration in San Diego on September 30th. We are very proud to have Dr. Lindstrand as a key strategic partner, who has contributed and continues to contribute significantly to the development of Platforms’ airborne wireless communications systems.”

ABOUT LINDSTRAND TECHNOLOGIES
U.K. based Lindstrand Technologies is the largest manufacturer of manned tethered aerostats. The company was founded and managed by Dr. Per Lindstrand, a pilot, aeronautical engineer, and one of the world’s leading authorities in lighter-than-air aircraft. The Company is based in England, has a newly-opened manufacturing facility in Virginia, and it has been in operation since 1978, specializing in the design, manufacturing, and type-certifying of a wide variety of lighter-than-air vehicles, including hot air balloons, gas balloons, thermal airships, and aerostats. Dr. Lindstrand is one of the most experienced and highly regarded balloonists in the world. He personally holds three hot-air ballooning records, for the highest, longest and farthest balloon flights ever made (distance, duration and altitude). With a background and distinguished academic credentials in aeronautical engineering, Dr. Lindstrand has pioneered many technical innovations, and specializes in many diverse forms of lighter-than-air (LTA) aircraft technology. With designs certified in 48 countries and a perfect safety record, LTL is one of the world's leading manufacturers of aerostats, airships and high-tech inflatable buildings and structures.

In 2002, Lindstrand Technologies added a historical achievement to its long list of distinguished accomplishments in the field of lighter-than-air flight, by designing and manufacturing the high technology parachute that was used to successfully land the Beagle 2 Marslander on the planet Mars. The Beagle 2 was launched in June 2003 on a Russian Soyuz rocket and it successfully landed six months later on the Planet Mars. Lindstrand Technologies also designs and builds advanced inflatable architectural structures, buildings, and military/emergency shelters, innovative inflatable safety plugs for road tunnels and inflatable flood defence barriers.

Dr. Lindstrand has received the Royal Aeronautical Club Gold Medal, presented to him by Prince Andrew, twice, in 1989 and 1991, and The Britannica Trophy in 1988. He is also the recipient of America’s highest flying honor, The Harmon Trophy, awarded to him by Vice President Quayle in the White House. In February 2006, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Institute of British Architects for his highly innovative work in the field of inflatables and their application to habitable structures. Lindstrand is also a member of the Guinness Hall of Fame.

ABOUT PLATFORMS WIRELESS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION (PINK SHEETS:PLFM)
Platforms Wireless International Corporation, headquartered in Westlake Village, California, is the developer of the innovative airborne wireless communications technology known as the Airborne Relay Communications “ARC” System Core Technology. The ARC System Core Technology is designed to provide multiple wide area wireless telecommunications services from a lighter-than-air (LTA) platform suspended 1,000 to 5,000 meters above mean sea level by a tethered aerostat. The wireless service coverage footprint of each ARC System is approximately 38,000 square kilometers, or a 220 kilometer diameter. Management believes its significant advances in the field of airborne wireless communications technology, reinforced by new product developments, will provide efficient, cost-effective, voice and data communications solutions for rapid response to emergencies and natural or man-made disasters, and for augmenting, replacing, and/or supplementing terrestrial hard-wire and wireless telecommunications infrastructures.
