CDC Games Prepares to Launch Some of the World’s Most Anticipated Games
BEIJING-- CDC Games, a business unit of CDC Corporation (NASDAQ: CHINA) and pioneer of the "free-to-play, pay-for-merchandise" model for online games in China, announced today its growing pipeline of upcoming games includes some of the world’s most anticipated games.
Earlier in this year, the company announced that Stone Age 2 received the award for "Most Anticipated Game of 2007" at the third China Game Industry Annual Conference (CGIAC), held in Chengdu, China, January. Recently, 1Up.com, a leading website for gaming information, rated The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™, a subscription-based game, as one of its “Most Wanted Games of 2007.” CDC Games holds the exclusive distribution rights in China for The Lord of the Rings Online which is the official online game based on the Books of J.R.R. Tolkien. This massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is being developed by Turbine, Inc., a premier developer, publisher and operator of online subscription entertainment in the United States.
“Our pipeline of upcoming games is now stronger than ever and we are very excited to have some of the world’s most anticipated games in that pipeline,” said Xiaowei Chen, Ph.D., CEO of CDC Games. “By combining the natural market momentum of these games, with our very large base of over 46 million registered players in China, and CDC Games’ centralized online gaming platform which allows users to enjoy the company's online game portfolio using a common virtual currency under a single login account, we believe we have the formula for broad success as we prepare to launch these new games in China.”
Both Stone Age 2 and The Lord of the Rings Online are planned for launch by CDC Games in China in 2007.
