Interop Technologies Provides Messaging And WAP Services To Multiple Independent Operators
FORT MYERS, FL.—Aug. 15, 2007—Interop Technologies, a leading provider of advanced wireless technology solutions, today announced agreements with the Rural Independent Network Alliance (RINA), East Kentucky Network (dba Appalachian Wireless), and LEACO Wireless. All three companies are utilizing Interop solutions to offer commercial wireless services.
RINA, a Utah-based switching consortium serving wireless operators in the western United States, has purchased Interop modified hosted solutions enabling RINA member companies to deliver Short Message Service (SMS), Multimedia Messaging (MMS), and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) services to their customers and reduce operating expenses. The services are being deployed across nine western operators. Under the popular modified hosted approach, unique to Interop Technologies, the company retains ownership of the equipment, but RINA can customize solutions for end customers. Monthly service fees are based on the number of subscribers served, and no capital cost is involved.
RINA is commercially launching MMS and WAP solutions with modified hosted solutions from Interop Technologies. This is the first time that commercial MMS and WAP services will be offered through RINA member companies.
East Kentucky Network (dba Appalachian Wireless), located in Ivel, Kentucky, also is seamlessly transitioning from a hosted to turnkey Interop SMS solution. A long-time Interop customer, Appalachian Wireless purchased the turnkey system to accommodate growing message volume.
LEACO Rural Telephone Cooperative, Inc. of Lovington, New Mexico, purchased hosted SMS, MMS, WAP, and Over-the-Air Device Management solutions from Interop. The company serves the southeast area of New Mexico.
“Interop Technologies provides RINA with a valuable combination of technology solutions,” said Jeff Bushnell, Assistant General Manager of South Central Communications, a founding member of RINA. “As a result, RINA has a greater ability to resell SMS and reduce SS7 costs to member wireless providers.”
“Interop provides a very simple, flexible migration strategy, enabling our company to offer the latest communications services to subscribers,” said Gerald Robinette, CEO, Appalachian Wireless. “The transition from hosted to turnkey has been simple, and we continue to benefit from the same high-quality technology platforms and technical support.”
“Hosted SMS, MMS, WAP, and OTA solutions from Interop give us the leverage to compete effectively against much larger companies,” said Laura Phipps, General Manager, LEACO. “In addition, our subscribers now have a wider array of communications choices.”
“We are pleased to offer flexible deployment options enabling wireless organizations of any size to offer state-of-the-art services to their customers,” said John Dwyer, President and CEO, Interop Technologies. “These cost-effective options enable operators to increase their infrastructure capabilities as their business and messaging volumes grow.”
