Elements Interactive Releases EDGELIB SDK 3.40 Adding Support for RGBA Fonts and GP2X F-200

Almere, the Netherlands -- Elements Interactive B.V. releases version 3.40 of multi-platform mobile game engine EDGELIB. This new version adds support for alpha-layered bitmap fonts and GPH's new GP2X F-200 device.

EDGELIB 3.40 includes support for bitmap fonts with an additional alpha layer (RGBA), an often requested feature. Developers have now much more control in drawing btimap fonts to the screen. The SDK also includes a new tool to create bitmap font files from a TrueType font, also supporting RGBA.

The 3.40 release also adds support for GPH's new GP2X F-200 handheld game console, enabled with a touchscreen. Games created with EDGELIB supporting stylus input can now easily be ported to the F-200.

Other improvements include enhancements in the XML and XML-RPC parsers, a bugfix on Windows desktop concerning multiple stylus up events and the ability to write 8-bit indexed color BMP and PNG image files. A complete list of additions and bugfixes can be found in the release history at http://www.edgelib.com.

EDGELIB licensees are entitled to download and install the commercial version of the new EDGELIB SDK. An evaluation version can be downloaded for free as well.

EDGELIB supports the development of mobile applications and games for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Symbian Series 60, Series 80, Series 90, Symbian UIQ, Gamepark Holdings GP2X and Windows desktop. Key features include true multi-platform development, high-performance 2D graphics, hardware accelerated 3D graphics through OpenGL ES, RGBA surfaces and both Bluetooth and TCP/IP networking.

More information about EDGELIB can be found at http://www.edgelib.com.
