Fastrax Announces Upgrades to SiRFstarIII based iTrax300 OEM GPS Receiver
Helsinki, Finland - January 17, 2007 - Fastrax Ltd., the provider of open and portable iSuite OEM GPS Software Development Kit environments and programmable iTrax OEM GPS receivers, today announced upgrades to the iTrax300, the company's industry-leading OEM GPS receiver.
The iTrax300 OEM GPS receiver module enables high-performance navigation in the most stringent applications and a solid fix even in demanding GPS environments. iTrax300 receivers are ideally suited for both industrial navigation systems and battery operated consumer products such as handheld computers, vehicle navigation devices, sports accessories and mobile phones.
The Fastrax iTrax300 module will be upgraded with the new SiRF GSC3e/LP chip, which reduces typical power consumption by approximately 35% down to 110mW. The new chip is pin compatible with the previous SiRF GSC3 chip, necessitating no changes to the operation and interfaces of the iTrax300 GPS module.
Simultaneously with the chip upgrade, the firmware of the iTrax300 receiver will be upgraded for several enhancements in navigation and robustness. With the new firmware version 3.2.4, navigation sensitivity will be improved to -158dBm and acquisition sensitivity to -143dBm.
"The iTrax300 receiver is generating significant interest among OEM companies around the world. To answer this growing demand, we are introducing these hardware and firmware updates as requested by our customers. Featuring 100% pin compatibility with the previous version, the new iTrax300 receivers will provide an unbeatable combination of even lower power consumption and enhanced navigation performance," said Mr. Matti Räty, President and CEO, Fastrax.
The upgraded iTrax300 receiver modules will be available during the first quarter of 2007 from Fastrax distributors worldwide. Product naming of the iTrax300 family will remain unchanged.
