MachineTalker Acquires Invisible ID Technology
SANTA BARBARA, CA -- MachineTalker®, Inc. (OTCBB: MTKN), developer of smart wireless security networks and tracking systems, announced today that the company has acquired the rights to an inexpensive secret marking technique that contains machine-readable covert and subtle properties. Used in conjunction with visible IDs, this methodology provides the basis for authentication of the ID.
Recent coupling of barcode and RFID readers to the MachineTalker® wireless mesh network allows the transfer of freight manifests or other inventory data into Talkers® that are on-board shipping containers and pallets. These units are then carried along with the shipment to monitor and keep track of goods in transit. Modified readers that also assess the invisible authentication of every ID can alert the MachineTalker network to help prevent bogus and counterfeit goods from being added to legitimate cargo.
According to Roland F. Bryan, Company President, "This marking technology, for which we now have an exclusive license, is a significant addition to the company's intellectual property portfolio. It gives us the means to scrutinize serial numbers and other inventory markings that are associated with a legitimate shipper or manufacturer, and to report differences to freight handlers or to a clearance system. The Talkers® themselves can be programmed to react upon notification from a reader that detects a problem, and to send an alert to those in charge."
The Company has acquired exclusive rights to implement and employ the optical encoding technique described in USPTO Application Number 60/814,440 by Outwater, et al - METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RELIABLY MARKING GOODS USING TRACEABLE MARKERS. This pertains to the combination of standard ID markings and special optical inks that are used to produce the authentication codes. These special authentication codes can be applied at the same time as the visible identity information is affixed to a valuable item, but they are seen only by a special reading element that has been added to the regular reading device.
Christopher Outwater, the technology inventor, stated: "The new technology will allow inexpensive, secure tags to be seamlessly embedded within MachineTalker's intelligent wireless networks."
