WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Mobile Zone at IBC2007 Attracts Industry Leaders

Leading IT, Telecom and Broadcast companies have signed-up to enter the expanded Mobile Zone at IBC2007 as the European market for the delivery of broadcast content to mobile devices begins to take off. Snell & Wilcox, Samsung and Qualcomm are amongst the industry giants that have already signed-up for the Mobile Zone and National Grid Wireless, one of the UK's leading providers of broadcast transmission infrastructure, has been announced today as Platinum Sponsor for the Zone.

The Mobile Zone at IBC2007 has been designed as a visitor attraction and will bring together many of the organisations and technologies that are emerging as major forces in Mobile TV. It will therefore provide a unique opportunity for application developers, content providers and technology companies to showcase their capabilities at the heart of the broadcast industry's leading international conference and exhibition.

The Mobile Zone at IBC2007 will be accompanied by a series of Business Briefings to which attendance is free. These briefings will examine some of the issues and opportunities arising from this revolution in broadcast content delivery in further detail and are intended to reinforce and complement the established peer reviewed, paid-delegate IBC Conference.

Commenting on the development of The Mobile Zone at IBC2007, Mike Crimp, Marketing Director, IBC commented: "We are delighted with the success the Mobile Zone has achieved in its first two years and excited by the pace of innovation in both technology and content. The proliferation of mobile devices and their increasing use as a tool for the delivery of broadcast content will be a major force in the development of the industry of the coming years and it is natural for IBC, the world's leading broadcast event to be taking a lead in setting the agenda"

"We're pleased to be renewing our sponsorship of the Mobile Zone in 2007," said Mark Watkins, Director, Mobile Media at National Grid Wireless. "The Zone perfectly showcases the variety of technologies, equipment and services that will help deliver Mobile TV services. Importantly, this sponsorship enables National Grid Wireless to showcase why it is at the heart of this exciting and new market."

Alan Norman, Managing Director of IT Europa, which is working with IBC in developing and marketing the Mobile Zone, added: "As IT, Telecoms and Broadcast technologies continue to converge; the delivery of compelling content to mobile devices represents a major growth opportunity for vendors, content creators and service providers."

The Mobile Zone at IBC2007 is being jointly developed and marketed by IBC, IT Europa and BPL. The IBC2007 exhibition takes place from 7th - 11th September 2007 at the RAI, Amsterdam.
