WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Opera Mobile Browser on Willcom's Latest Smartphone
Opera Software today announced that the newly released Opera Mobile 8.7
for Windows Mobile will be the default browser on the Advanced/W-ZERO3
[es] Windows Mobile device distributed by the Japanese mobile telecom
company Willcom. The Advanced/W-ZERO3 [es] is a new addition to the W-
ZERO3 series of smartphones available by Willcom and introduces advanced
scrolling and searching features to create a further intuitive user
experience. The Advanced/W-ZERO3 [es] will be released for the
Japanese market in mid-July.
The device's predecessing W-ZERO3 and W-ZERO3 [es] handsets with Opera
developed a market for smartphones in Japan. The Advanced/W-ZERO3 [es]
with Opera continues to offer Willcom customers a powerful Web
experience on the go.
Advancing the user experience with the latest W-ZER03-series smartphone,
Opera supports keyword search functionality in the address bar. When you
search for a keyword via the address bar, such as by typing "g keyword,"
the results are rendered instantly. "Xcrawl" is a key feature of this
device that enables intuitive thumb scrolling. Opera supports both the
Xcrawl thumb-scrolling functionality and grab-and-scroll navigation
using a stylus.
"A Web browser is a key component of our smartphones," says Tadasu
Tsuchihashi, Executive Vice President, Willcom INC. "Opera Mobile has
contributed to the success of our W-ZERO3 series and remains a natural
choice in offering our newest customers an exciting browsing experience."
"Opera worked closely with Willcom and Sharp to provide a premiere
browsing experience to users of the W-ZERO3 series," says Jon von
Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "Opera offers a rich browsing experience
that includes use of advanced Web applications such as Web mail,
calendar, maps and more."
