MIG to Provide Next Generation Event Based Mobile Services at O2 Wireless Festival 2007

Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) teams up again with network operator O2, to provide leading multimedia mobile interactive services at the O2 Wireless Festival 2007 which is taking place simultaneously at Hyde Park, London (14th > 17th June) and Harewood House, Leeds (15th > 17th June).

An extensive range of mobile interactive services are available this year to avid festival goers including:

VIP Barcoding – To gain access to the exclusive O2 blueroom, O2 customers are invited to text ‘LONDON’ or ‘LEEDS’ to the shortcode 60202*: In response they will receive a message that contains a 2D barcode ticket. Each barcode is unique and is scanned to gain entry.

An additional feature to this years VIP barcoding is a prize draw - Each guest on gaining entry to the blueroom will be notified as to whether they’ve won a prize immediately. Prizes include a Sony Ericsson Walkman, Viewing Bus Tickets, Hospitality upgrade and many more - Prizes are won daily.

GRIDIO – An interactive music-video installation designed to offer music maestros attending the festival the opportunity to create their own video clip. Pressure sensors on the grid detect peoples' movements, which in turn trigger multiple simultaneous audiovisual clips on a large plasma screen for all to see. The finished masterpiece is then downloaded onto the user’s handset.

Backstage Reporter – Throughout the day SMS and MMS messages containing news and gossip are sent to all opt-in O2 customers live and direct from MIG’s backstage reporter.

O2 Active® Info Site – A host of content will be available to festival goers via O2 Active® including travel news, schedules, what to do after the gigs and event videos.

Bluetooth Stations® – O2 is keen to promote UGC (User Generated Content) during the festival, therefore attendees are encouraged to upload content (photos and videos) at Bluetooth Stations that are sited throughout both venues. Content captured will be shown on strategically placed giant screens at the festival where they will appear live for all to see. Content will also be posted on O2’s Blogging site and on O2 Active®.

Mobile SMS Survey – To capture the thoughts of festival goers and their experience whilst at the O2 Wireless Festival 2007, a selection of O2 customers will be invited to participate in an SMS Survey which will be managed by MIG.

Anthony Nelson, Business Development Director, Mobile Interactive Group commented: “Following MIG’s involvement at the O2 Wireless Festival 2006, we’re delighted to team up again this year to showcase the extensive range of interactive and event based services in the mobile space today. Consumers today are more savvy than ever and we continuously strive to introduce pioneering technologies into the event space, the aim to create a personalised experience for each festival goer!”

Nuala Donnelly, Head of Music Sponsorship, O2 said: “O2’s commitment to the annual O2 Wireless Festival is as strong as ever and we’re committed to offering our customers the very best in event-based interactive mobile services. 2007 is no exception with the introduction of the UGC Grideo audiovisual service and the extension of the VIP Barcoding prize draw. O2 is also working with MIG to introduce and showcase some of the most pioneering mobile services to date at TheO2 which opens on 24th June this year.”
