TerraWave Solutions Works With Wi-Fi Alliance® to Drive Next Generation Wi-Fi Technology
SAN ANTONIO-- TerraWave Solutions, a division of TESSCO Technologies Incorporated (Nasdaq:TESS), is now distributing Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 802.11n draft 2.0 test beds to Wi-Fi Alliance labs and members who are beginning to test next generation Wi-Fi products that offer industry-changing Wi-Fi capabilities at home and in the enterprise. Consumers may buy Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 802.11n draft 2.0 products with the confidence that they are interoperable, backward-compatible, and have the latest security protections on board.
The Wi-Fi Alliance officially launched the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 802.11n draft 2.0 testing and certification process on June 25. For the past several months, TerraWave has worked closely with the Wi-Fi Alliance and approved testing laboratories to assemble the test beds or kits necessary for certifying the new draft 802.11n radio products, and to ensure their availability as soon as the testing launch was announced by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
“TerraWave and its parent company, TESSCO, have been key to the timely and successful availability of the 802.11n test beds,” said Wi-Fi Alliance Managing Director Frank Hanzlik. “Together, we have been able to meet some rather demanding deadlines in our efforts to help bring the next generation of wireless technology to the consumer. TerraWave’s ability to acquire, assemble and distribute the new test beds to our authorized test labs and members is a critical part of the Wi-Fi certification process.”

802.11n draft 2.0 technologies have the potential to deliver up to five times the throughput and up to twice the range of previous-generation Wi-Fi gear. Consumers will soon be able to take advantage of whole-home coverage and content-rich applications such as streaming high-definition video, online gaming with multiple users on a single network, and speedy file transfer of photos, music, and more. Enterprise users will be able to leverage 802.11n products to increase network capacity and improve productivity. Wi-Fi certification gives Wi-Fi users the confidence that the 802.11n draft 2.0 products they purchase have been tested for industry-wide interoperability, the very latest security protection, and backward compatibility with previous generations of Wi-Fi gear.
