WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Traffic.com Powers St. Louis 511 Traveler Information System

WAYNE, Pa., May 11 -- Traffic.com, a NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT) company and a leading provider of real-time personalized traffic information for drivers coast-to-coast, announced today the launch of the St. Louis 511 Traveler Information Service, a fully automated, interactive real-time traffic phone system powered by Traffic.com. The new service helps to improve roadway safety, shorten drive times, save gas money, and reduce the need for Department of Transportation or taxpayer funding for 511 services.

The St. Louis 511 Traveler Information Service allows area travelers to simply dial 511 on their mobile phones for immediate, real-time traffic information for major roadways around the metropolitan area. Guided by an interactive automated voice system, callers can specify an area roadway to obtain real-time updates for congestion, drive times, delays, and incidents. Callers can request details at any time during the call for more specific information regarding average speeds, construction, or accidents.

In addition to the voice service, Traffic.com and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will provide the same real-time traffic information online as an enhancement to the popular Gateway Guide at http://www.gatewayguide.com. In addition to detailed city area roadway traffic information, online users of the Traffic.com-MoDOT co-sponsored services will be able to sign up for custom MyTraffic(TM) email alerts for the routes they plan to drive. Site users can create and save all their drives for access anytime via the site, or by setting their own criteria for traffic alerts to be sent to them by phone or by email.

The St. Louis 511 Traveler Information Service is the first of its kind. The Traffic.com ad-supported service model allows for the delivery of accurate and comprehensive traffic information to taxpayers free of charge.

"We are excited about our combined effort with a leader such as MoDOT to deliver innovative and beneficial services to drivers," said John Collins, vice president ITS services for Traffic.com, a NAVTEQ company. "When most cities with 511 systems rely on taxpayers to fund more than $1 million each year typically necessary to operate the system, the taxpayers for St. Louis and MoDOT are paying zero. Traffic.com is committed to extending this savings to other cities and states by leveraging this successful model."

This 511 service launch is an important milestone in the long-standing public-private collaboration between the MoDOT and Traffic.com. Traffic.com announced at the end of last year the expansion of its St. Louis sensor network used to monitor real-time traffic conditions and continues to provide MoDOT with comprehensive, in-depth traffic data. This data assists in improving work zone safety, emergency response, and highway operations. Under contract to MoDOT, Traffic.com installed sensors at no cost to MoDOT to provide real-time traffic data on 500 lane miles of key St. Louis freeways.

Traffic.com's broadcast and/or online solutions are used by St. Louis area broadcast customers including the following television stations: KMOV News 4, KTVI Fox 2, KSDK NewsChannel 5, and the following radio stations: KFTK (97.1-FM), KIHT (96-FM), KPNT (105.7 FM), and KSHE (95 FM) and XM Satellite Radio (XM Channel 218).
