g8wave Announces Agreement with The Charlatans to Power Full Mobile Download Services
BOSTON--g8wave Holdings, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: GEWV.OB) (“g8wave” or the “Company”), an integrated mobile media company with offices in Boston and London, today announced that it has reached an agreement with The Charlatans, a music group with a history of pursuing revolutionary approaches to music distribution. The agreement with g8wave follows The Charlatans most recent initiative in which the group gave away their new single “ You Cross My Path” on XFM free of charge.
Under the terms of the deal, g8wave will deliver a mobile internet site which will allow fans to download ringtones, full tracks, images, videos and other unique content, as well as to get updates on the band, all free of charge. The initial site is part of a broader mobile music and marketing plan drawn up by g8wave and The Charlatans, which includes Bluetooth broadcasting at shows, mobile ticket sales and even a mobile store, where visitors can purchase t-shirts and posters. The mobile site will also carry advertising with major music and lifestyle brands. Fans of the band will be able to be taken to the new mobile service by a number of easy to use routes, including short code downloads and special web to mobile technology.
“Giving away the music for free is the most intelligent option for bands, as it maximizes other revenue streams and stops this whole notion of stealing music by making it legal,” said Alan McGee, from McGee Management. “Working with g8wave on adding mobile to this mix was absolutely natural and takes The Charlatans up to the next level with our approach to delivering music to the people.”
