Tesco Mobile Delivers Robust Growth on Mobile Portal
Tesco Mobile is pleased to announce sustained and robust growth of downloads, page impressions and unique user sessions on the Tesco Mobile WAP Portal since the launch of the service in May. The Tesco Mobile portal, managed and hosted by mobile specialist InfoMedia Services, is now the default WAP destination for the MVNO’s 1.5 million subscribers, receiving over 250,000 unique visitors per month.
Showcasing a variety of downloadable content, infotainment services and Tesco services, the cross network portal delivers a broad selection of products and services that subscribers expect – all within the Tesco mantra of ‘better, simpler, cheaper.’ New concept microsites are being rolled out weekly with specific content shops for major content owners including Disney, Sky Sports, Gameloft, Glu and EA Games that are allowing consumers to interact with their favourite brands within a branded area.
As part of an expansive service delivery roadmap, Tesco Mobile has trialled third party mobile advertising with advertisers including the BBC, ITV and EMAP and plan to roll out banner advertising across the portal in November.
Andy Dewhurst, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Mobile, welcomed this announcement, commenting, "We've been delighted with the level of engagement our customers have shown in the Tesco Mobile WAP portal. Our customers have sent a clear message that this is a service they want to use, presenting real revenue growth opportunities and the prospect of great new experiences for our customers as we grow content and applications."
Speaking about these new developments, InfoMedia Services Commercial Director, Michael Tomlins said “This is fantastic news that clearly demonstrates customers want to interact with trusted traditional brands via their mobile handset. Tesco Mobile and InfoMedia are working very closely to deliver even more customer friendly products and services on the portal, driving even greater uptake in 2008”.
