Red Bend Software Reaches 200 Million Mobile Phones

WALTHAM, Mass., October 9, 2007 – Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management and Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) updating solutions for mobile devices, today announced that the company has reached the significant milestone of providing its vCurrent® Mobile software in 200 million mobile phones worldwide. This represents a 345% growth rate since October 2006, when vCurrent Mobile was shipping on 45 million mobile phones.

In the third quarter, Red Bend’s vCurrent Mobile shipped in 50 million new mobile phones, bringing the total number of Red Bend-enabled devices to 200 million. In addition, 22 new mobile phone models shipped with vCurrent Mobile during the quarter. Red Bend’s FOTA solution is now available in 117 handsets from manufacturers including LG, Motorola, Sharp, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and others. Red Bend forecasts that its software will ship on 250 million mobile phones by the end of 2007.

Red Bend’s vCurrent Mobile enables manufacturers and operators to update firmware over-the-air. The patented software identifies the essential changes from an existing version of firmware to a new, updated version. vCurrent Mobile version 5, released in July, is the first FOTA solution to update firmware while a consumer is using the phone, without taking the device offline. Red Bend’s device management client software allows remote configuration, provisioning and updating of mobile devices over the air. The software is fully compliant with Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Device Management (DM) standards, and is interoperable with any OMA DM-compliant server.

Expanding Share of the Mobile Software Management Market Red Bend’s market leadership in FOTA is enabling the company to expand its share of other mobile software management technologies. Red Bend announced during the quarter that leading handset manufacturer SANYO selected Red Bend to provide device management for SANYO’s CDMA mobile phones. Red Bend has signed two additional licensing agreements for its client-side device management software. In total, 15 manufacturers have now adopted Red Bend’s software management solutions.

“Our market momentum is a testament to the growing demand by operators and manufacturers to have complete flexibility and control over managing software on deployed devices,” said Yoram Salinger, CEO of Red Bend Software. “With our expertise in managing software on any mobile device and proven deployments worldwide, Red Bend has become the preferred provider of client-side solutions for mobile software management.”
